Inter-modal transport including the use of shortsea shipping contributes to the reduction of air pollution as well as global warming. The comparison between shortsea and road transport modes in terms of impact on air pollution and global warming are based on a model elaborated by “Realise shortsea” as a result of a European Project on Shortsea Shipping and Intermodality.
